Working for A & B Taxis as a driver can be an extremely rewarding experience.

As a driver you will have total flexibility, being able to work whatever hours you want or need. You have the advantage of both, running your own business and having the support of one of the most technically advanced and leading companies within the taxi industry, both locally and nationally.

To become a driver you will need to make application through Basildon Council for either a Private Hire or Hackney Carriage drivers licence. All drivers and vehicles licensed by Basildon District Council are thoroughly checked.

Drivers are subject to Criminal Record Bureau checks and a test of their knowledge of the Basildon District.

Members of the travelling public place a lot of trust in the driver of the licensed vehicle they get into. Therefore the Council insists on high standards from an applicant for a driver's licence.

You Must Be:

Over 21 years of age and have held a full DVLA driving licence for at least three years.
That licence must not have had three or more endorsements on it within the preceding three years.

You Must Not Have:

Have been convicted of a serious motoring offence during the previous 3 years.
Have been cautioned for a criminal offence during the previous 12 months.
Have been convicted of a criminal offence during the previous three years.
Have been convicted of a serious criminal offence (e.g. grievous bodily harm) during the previous seven years.
Have been convicted of a sexual offence during the previous seven years.
Have had an HGV or PSV licence revoked or application refused by the Traffic Commissioners during the previous three years.
